Three Egyptian Musicians Wall Relief
This beautiful wall relief is a striking addition to any decor, with a natural stone background and muted colors that will blend with almost any color scheme.
HISTORY: Based on a wall painting in the tomb of Nakht, an astronomer of the God Amun in the kingdom of Amenhotep III, this charming scene provides further evidence of the pleasure and enjoyment the ancient Egyptian nobility derived from music. Many musical instruments have been found in their tombs. The harp and flute are the primary instruments, shown here with a norva, a stringed instrument made from a turtle shell that is similar to the modern-day banjo. The three musicians' clothing ranges from very little to gauzy, transparent veils. Wax fragrance cones can be seen atop their heads, to perfume the body and hair. Fragrance was another important element in the life of rich Egyptians, being used in the home and on their persons, as well as in religious ceremonies conducted in the temples of all their major gods.
